About the programme

Taking beneficial learning closer to communities.

Da’wah Mashinani is one of Ansaar Muslim Sisters of Mombasa’s community outreach programmes. Through this initiative, we visit different communities across the Coast, working together with local coordinators to reach women, girls and families in need of Islamic knowledge, guidance and support.

Our outreach includes mihadhara (public Islamic lectures) that address matters of faith as well as important issues affecting our communities. Topics may include Islamic values, the rights and responsibilities of women, family life, poverty, substance abuse and other challenges faced by our communities.

We also have a special focus on new Muslims (reverts). We support them through basic Islamic education, mentorship, Qur’ans and other learning materials, clothing and other essential support. Our aim is to help new Muslims understand and practise their faith while feeling welcomed and supported within the Muslim community.

Through Da’wah Mashinani, we have reached 39 villages, alhamdulillah, taking beneficial knowledge and community support beyond the walls of the madrasa and into the wider community.

Our aim is simple: to take knowledge, guidance and support to where they are needed most.

Where the outreach goes

Reaching communities where access to Islamic learning is limited.

Da’wah Mashinani takes Ansaar into towns, villages and remote areas. In some places, mosques have been abandoned and communities may have no resident imam or ustadh. The programme brings Islamic reminders and learning directly to women and girls who may otherwise have very limited access.
